A couple of days ago I got my annual reminder that my rental contract is up for renewal in January. Signing up for a 12mths rental agreement is the norm here in the UAE and having lived in this city for 5yrs & counting (yikes) I’ve lived in a total of two apartments. Overall I’m pretty happy with my current apartment. However, despite media reports that Dubai rentals are generally going down, naturally, that’s true for every other part of the city except where I live – Business Bay. In perpetual transformation, its crazy to witness first hand how the area is coming into its own especially over the past 24mths (hey JW Marriot Marquis Hotel, Iris Dubai in Oberoi Hotel, Taj Dubai Hotel, Pantry Cafe, Habtoor City & loads more interesting spots).
Anyway, in preparation for potentially moving apartments if my rent goes up beyond my budget I’ve been keeping an eye local property listing sites to get a feel for what’s out there. #BeingAnAdultRealness Currently staying in a 1-bedroom apartment I’ve been mildly contemplating the idea of downsizing to a studio apartment so I can save money for a few #lifegoals I’ve got chalked out. However, my biggest aversion to moving into a studio apartment has always been the absence of distinct areas within a space. Enter Pinterest and Instagram (you can follow me here) where I’ve found some creative ideas for stylishly ‘zoning’ within a studio apartment. Maybe…just MAYBE downsizing wouldn’t be so bad. ;) Watch this space! xo
